Set in the wilds of North Cornwall, our workshop has been researching and studying 18th C costume for over 8 years now.
Our main goal is to wrap our heads around how Georgian costume was made, what variations there are in the patterns as the fashions change throughout the century, and the most frustrating question of all: why on earth did they sew that item like that?
However, a brand new development has happened in our business and we are now the proud owners of a little shop in the North Cornwall town of Bude!
Our new shop houses our Costume Workroom where you can see 18th C and Regency costume being made and researched.
And houses our wonderful, much beloved, shop!
This fun little shop contains Gifts, Stationery, crafty bits, quirky sewing or historical themed gifts, wrapping paper, cards and Books! Books on the Goergians, books on the Tudor’s, books on the Victorians…and we house a Jane Austen section too. We have books on pattern cutting, books that offer patterns on historical and vintage fashions. Book on how to look vintage and we are now spreading into the world of the Historical Novel!
Our Stationery range includes well known brands such as Cath Kidston, Anorak, Eccolo and Liberty. We have notebooks with the Tudor Kings and Queens, we have journals, sketchbooks, bees, pineapples, roccoco themed folders, floral, vintage, william morris, Game of Thrones…. we even have gorgeous paper bins made from recycled Cotton products and printed with eco-friendly dyes!
If you’re in the area then please come and browse and chat – you’d be most welcome. If you’re not in the area then our aim is to have all of our stock up on the website so that no one misses out. However, the website is rather new at the moment, so please be patient, we are forever adding items but there are rather a lot! Please message us if there is a particular item you cannot find -it may just not have been listed up as of yet 🙂
